Newlyweds
July 26, 2019
Whoa! In a whirlwind of a wedding weekend we found ourselves on the other side married and feeling incredibly loved after having been surrounded by our favorite friends and family. The weather gods were even on our side as we were fortunate to enjoy sunshine and a beautiful sunset over the Olympic Mountains.
Leading up to our big day Alex and I wrapped up our last days at respective employers and devoted additional time to final wedding planning and house projects. I even managed to build us a wedding ceremony arch, only having to make 3 trips to Home Depot before getting the right materials. Just in case each of our ‘honey-do’ lists weren’t long enough, a last minute replacement of our leaking kitchen sink (thanks Mike!) added extra excitement a couple days before the wedding. All in all, everything came together in time and we were able to enjoy ourselves with arriving guests throughout the week.
Simply having a wedding ‘day’ wasn’t really in the cards for us, as it ended up being more like a wedding ‘week.’ I suppose marrying a rockstar planner who loves to host may have had something to do with our weekend agenda. On Thursday, we hosted a welcome party in our backyard, which 80 of our friends and family were able to attend. On Friday, our wedding! On Saturday, we went to the Mariners vs. Tigers baseball game, followed by an impromptu backyard party with leftover wedding booze which ended in a competitive corn hole tournament (sorry neighbors!). Then to top off an already jam-packed weekend of goodness, we spent Sunday through Tuesday camping on the Hood Canal with a large group of friends and family.
The funny thing is, when it was all over we were wishing we had just 1 more day with everyone, but that’s always how it goes when you’re having fun. We’re just fortunate to have had the time we did with everyone and we’re so excited for the next adventure together.
Fast forward to today, we’re focused on getting our house move-in ready for potential renters, packing, making sure we’re up to date on vaccinations and oh yeah - getting our first flights purchased to Central America. We’ll be posting more regularly now that things are picking up for our upcoming journey. Until next time!
