Quitting our jobs and leaving Seattle to travel the world has always been a dream of ours since we met four years ago. But it always felt like a pipe dream. Why would we leave behind great jobs, a house that we’ve made into a home, and our community of friends in the Pacific Northwest? Each time we talked about the idea of picking up and traveling the world, we’d always go back to the fortunate circumstances we’ve found ourselves in. We’d be crazy to leave it all behind.
It’s hard now to pinpoint the exact time, or even month, that we decided to make our pipe dream come true. Maybe it was coming to the realization that we are getting married and want to have kids in the future. Maybe it was seeing the health deteriorate of ones we love. Or maybe it was the self-reflection that comes after listening to one too many Jason Isbell songs.
In June, we told our employers that we were leaving, we asked friends to take care of our beloved house plants, and we started dreaming bigger on what the future holds. Most of our time now is focused on getting our house in order, preparing for our wedding, and scrambling to get things wrapped up at the office. Our plans for travel are quite sparse at the moment, but we hope you will follow along as they come together. Tell us some of your favorite places to visit. Connect us with your network. Hell, join us for a portion of our trip!
We hope you’ll follow along.
